LIE east reopens at exit 53 after debris is cleared, cops say

Two eastbound Long Island Expressway lanes between Exits 53 and 55 were reopened shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday after police closed them because wet cement had slopped on the roadway. “It looks like it just reopened a minute ago,” a Suffolk police spokeswoman said.

On the four-lane stretch east of Wicks Road, only the right and HOV lanes remained open after the debris was reported at 4:03 p.m., she had said earlier.

The website http:/ identified the exits.
