Celeste Topazio of Brightwaters has received the 2011 Ellen Swallow Richards Award from the Long Island Family and Consumer Science Professionals based on her "outstanding contribution" to the field. Topazio is a retired art teacher in the Babylon School District, where she served for 35 years, and is a docent and on the board of trustees for the Sagtikos Manor Historical Society. She is also founder of Friends of the Manor Gardens, a committee dedicated to restoring the landscape at Sagtikos, and volunteers at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County's Children's Garden in Yaphank.
