Markus Seeliger of Stony Brook is one of 25 people nationwide to receive the 2010 New Scholar Award from the Ellison Medical Foundation, a nonprofit supporting basic biomedical research on aging. An assistant professor of pharmacological sciences at Stony Brook University Medical Center, Seelinger was noted for being a "top early career investigator in aging research." His research investigates proteins affected by the body's ubiquitin system, which officials said is intimately involved in disease development.
