Alex Poliwoda scored four of his 11 points in overtime to lead Southold over Westhampton, 41-40, yesterday in non-league boys basketball.
Liam Walker's short jumper from the right wing gave Southold a 41-39 lead with 30 seconds remaining. Poliwoda also had 11 rebounds and Walker added 13 points and five rebounds to lead the Settlers (3-1).
Bridgehampton 76, Ross 39: Josh Lamison had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead Bridgehampton (4-0) in League VIII. Charles Manning Jr. added 19 points, four assists and four steals. Matthew Hostetter had 17 points and Tylik Furman added 13.Pierson 61, Greenport 37: Robbie Evjen had 13 points and 20 rebounds to lead Pierson (1-2) in League VIII. Ben Kushner added 16 points.
Lawrence Woodmere Academy 57, Portledge 51: John Alimo scored nine of his 19 points in the fourth quarter for Lawrence Woodmere (5-1) in PSAA. Chris Pierre-Louis (10 points) hit two free throws to give LWA a 55-51 lead with 23 seconds left. Jordan Dingle scored 18 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Carle Place 39, Glen Cove 36: Sarah Pisani (14 points) hit a three-pointer with a minute left to break a tie at 36 for Carle Place (3-2) in non-league. Kacey Burden scored 16 points.
Roslyn 52, Great Neck South 51: Jordan Tullman hit two free throws with 24 seconds left to win it for Roslyn (2-3) in non-league. Tullman had 14 points and three steals. Callie Migden added 17 points and nine rebounds. Great Neck South's Gianna Ferrante scored 17 points.
Locust Valley 45, Valley Stream North 26: Taylor Herlich had 10 points and eight rebounds for Locust Valley (4-2) in non-league.
Islip 57, Lindenhurst 33: Alyssa Murphy had 16 points, seven assists, six rebounds and five steals to lead Islip (3-2) in non-league. Italee Brown-Smikle added 14 points and eight rebounds and Taryn Ohlmiller had 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.Lawrence Woodmere Academy 52, Evangel School 42: Arianne Phileny had 15 points, 12 rebounds and four assists to lead Lawrence Woodmere (2-4) in PSAA. Long Beach 101, Manhasset 82: Max Willard won the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.95) and the 100 backstroke (57.22) to lead Long Beach (4-0). Matt Cannon won the 50 freestyle (23.77) and the 100 freestyle (53.0) and Troy Morris took first in the dive with a 214.65.
Sachem East 90, East Hampton 80: Nick Neri won the 200-yard IM in 2:11.60 and the 100-yard backstroke in 57.90 to lead Sachem East (1-1). Joe Monteverde won the 100 butterfly (57.48) and the 50 freestyle (24.28) and Vinny Budke won the 200 freestyle (1:59.34) and 100 freestyle (52.7).
Huntington/Harborfields 91, North Babylon 51: Luke Cowden won the 200-meter IM in 2:13.20 to lead Huntington/Harborfields (2-0). Gunther Cassell won the 100 breaststroke (1:04.26). Cowden and Cassell each qualified for the state tournament. Brett Hebert won the dive with a personal-best 303.9.
riflerySewanhaka 729, Garden City 715: Krysta Sollecito shot a 186 to lead Sewanhaka (4-1). Cole Romano and Liam O'Grady each shot a 183. Garden City's Alina Martinez shot a 190, the high score of the competition.
Bellmore-Merrick 702, Baldwin 631: Julia Depascale shot a 186 to lead Bellmore-Merrick (1-2).
