School officials are proposing a $8,300,650 budget for 2010-11, a 4.26 percent spending increase from the current $7,961,717. The proposal would increase the tax levy by 4.9 percent, from the current $7,062,718 to $7,408,662.

School taxes on an average house would increase by 4.18 percent from $1,676 to $1,746, though neither district nor East Hampton town officials could say what constitutes an average house.

There is one proposition to release $860,932 from an existing reserve fund for maintenance and capital improvement work at the Amagansett Free Library. School officials say that because the funds have already been collected the proposition would have no impact on the tax rate.
