Angel McCoughtry scores 32 as Atlanta ends Liberty's winning streak at three

ATLANTA - Angel McCoughtry scored 32 points yesterday as the Atlanta Dream pulled out an 84-76 victory over the Liberty.

The victory was the first for Atlanta in three meetings with the Liberty this season and the Dream's first in six games against the Liberty, which had its winning streak ended at three games.

Tina Charles' four straight points put the Liberty (7-5) in front 69-67 with 5:47 remaining. Erica Wheeler answered with a three-pointer to spark an 8-0 run that McCoughtry finished with a jumper for a 75-69 lead. The Dream finished with a 9-2 run in the final three minutes.

Charles scored 22 points. Epiphanny Prince, in her second appearance and first start this season after missing 10 games playing for Russia in Eurobasket 2015, added 14. Carolyn Swords and Brittany Boyd had 10 points each.

McCoughtry hit 12 of 19 free throws in a game that featured 70 attempts. She has scored in double figures in every game this season and 19 in a row overall. Cierra Burdick and Sydney Carter added 12 points each. -- AP
