Cam Newton stars as Panthers hand Eagles seventh loss in a row

Cam Newton threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more Monday night to lead the Panthers to a 30-22 victory over the reeling Eagles in Philadelphia.

Bryce Brown set a club rookie record with 178 yards rushing, including touchdowns of 65 and 5 yards, but the Eagles (3-8) still lost their seventh straight game. Carolina is 3-8.

Brown, filling in for injured LeSean McCoy, lost two fumbles, including one in Panthers' territory. Rookie Nick Foles was so-so in his second straight start for Michael Vick, who sat out with a concussion. Foles completed 16 of 21 for 119 yards.

No suspension for Suh

The NFL decided not to suspend Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh for his actions against Texans quarterback Matt Schaub on Thursday. Suh's left cleat connected with Schaub's groin area after he threw a pass. Suh, face down on his chest after being blocked, extended his foot to hit Schaub below the belt.

League spokesman Greg Aiello announced the decision on his Twitter account, adding that the "incident'' will be reviewed for a potential fine.

49ers lose Kyle Williams

Niners wide receiver/kick returner Kyle Williams tweeted he will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his left knee. He and running back Kendall Hunter were hurt on the same play against the Saints. Hunter sprained his left ankle.

2 suspended for PED use

The NFL issued four-game suspensions to Patriots defensive end Jermaine Cunningham and Bucs cornerback Eric Wright for violating its policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said he expects cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner to be able to play Sunday despite the possibility they face four-game bans for violating the same policy.

Dolphins' Amaya arrested

Dolphins reserve defensive back Jonathon Amaya allegedly choked a taxi driver and was charged with battery early Monday in Miami Beach. Police said the taxi was moving erratically and they heard the driver scream "this man is trying to kill me."
