It's official: The Royal Canadian Air Force F-18 Demonstration Team will headline the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach State Park on Memorial Day weekend.
The lineup of performers for the annual air show was formally announced Wednesday by the Bethpage Federal Credit Union and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
The list of performers for the 10th annual air spectacular also includes David Windmiller, of Melville, who last week landed his stunt plane in traffic on a Babylon road after its engine seized in midair. There were no injuries in the emergency landing last Thursday on Route 231, north of Sunrise Highway.
Others formally announced Thursday in a news release include Lt. Col. John Klatt of the National Guard Reserve; Sean D. Tucker of Team Oracle; aerobatic pilot Matt Chapman; Rob Holland Ultimate Air shows; The Raiders Demonstration Team; Kirby Chambliss of Team Chambliss; the Red Bull Air Force Skydiver Parachute Team; the Misty Blues All-Woman Skydiving Team; Chuck Aaron of the Red Bull Helicopter Aerobatics; the GEICO Skytypers; Miss GEICO Speedboat; and the American Airpower Museum Warbirds.
Almost 400,000 spectators visited last year's show.
This year's event is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26, and is free to the public, although the standard $10 vehicle-use fee will be collected each day upon entry to the state park.
