Gaudin looks like odd man out

TAMPA, Fla. - Alfredo Aceves threw a bullpen session to Francisco Cervelli at Steinbrenner Field Tuesday as the picture for the team's fifth-starter spot continued to get clarified.

A report on AOL Fanhouse said the Yankees have placed Chad Gaudin on waivers; general manager Brian Cashman said he would not comment, but it would make sense because Gaudin was the longest shot out of the five candidates and has had the least impressive camp.

"Obviously we're going to have to make some decisions," Cashman said.

Gaudin has a non-guaranteed $2.95-million contract. Cashman said the team's brass would meet Wednesday to discuss their final roster decisions.

A-Rod's meeting. Cashman had no comment on the report that Alex Rodriguez will meet with federal authorities on Friday in Buffalo. Investigators reportedly want to quiz A-Rod about his ties, if any, with alleged HGH doctor Anthony Galea.
