Arthur Plowden of Amityville, who was diagnosed with end-stage heart failure, was Stony Brook University Heart Institute's first LVAD recipient. The device kept him alive until he received a heart transplant in July and on Thursday he was healthy enough to live out his dream of a shoot around with the Stony Brook University's men's basket ballteam.
