Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has banned public gatherings and closed nonessential businesses to try and stop the spread of COVID-19. Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced fines up to $5,000 on price gouging for hand sanitizers and face masks. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone is calling for legislation that includes funding for small businesses to keep workers employed.
