Then strap on your ankle weights, throw on your favorite tight white spandex pants, find some awesome background music and get ready to Prancercise.
Yep, you read right. Prancercise.
If you have no clue what I'm talking about, may I introduce the latest fitness "craze," which includes prancing around like a horse.
According to the Prancercise website, the exercise can be defined as: A springy, rhythmic way of moving forward, similar to a horse’s gait and ideally induced by elation.
In a now-viral video about Prancercise, founder Joanna Rohrback demonstrates a few forms of her newly-revived exercise (she originally started prancercising in 1989), performing a walk, trot, gallop and even a punch variation, because as Rohrback says in the video, "It’s better to be punching into space than in your face."
Putting all silliness and endless punchline possibilities aside, I had to know if this new "exercise" fad had any merit. Looking for answers, I turned to Daily Apple contributor, and resident fitness guru, Brian Dessart.
His reply was not at all what I expected to hear.
"Might as well put a little fun behind fitness," Dessart wrote. "If you like to dance and prance, why not jam-out in public, while raising your heart rate and absorbing the aerobic benefits. You might even provide quality entertainment for passersby."
He also added that prancers should, "be mindful of the additional weight added to your extremities and watch your balance."
So there you go. A new, wacky way to exercise that's, at least somewhat, legitimate.
