Jack Wall threw a four-hitter and rightfielder Vin Martino made a diving catch with the bases loaded to end the game as top-seeded MacArthur earned a 5-2 win over eighth-seeded Valley Stream Central in Game 1 of their best-of-three Nassau Class AA semifinal series. Wall struck out five. Jared Wolfe had two RBIs and James Barrett was 2-for-3 with a run scored for host MacArthur (17-6). Game 2 is at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Stream Central.

Division 14, Manhasset 11: After 13th-seeded Manhasset's five-run fifth inning cut Division's lead to 11-7, Ronmel Ocampo's two-run homer in the bottom of the inning pushed top-seeded Division's lead to 13-7 in Game 1 of their Nassau Class A semifinal series. Dan Lodato added an RBI single for Division. Manhasset had a four-run sixth to get within 14-11 but couldn't score in the seventh. Ocampo was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Tyler Epple's three-run home run in the first gave Division a 3-2 lead. Anthony Papa allowed four earned runs and six hits in five innings. Tyler Crafa went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Lodato was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Division (22-3). Game 2 is at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in Manhasset.
