Gunman robs manager

of store's bank deposits

Nassau police are looking for a man who robbed a clothing store manager at gunpoint as she was about to make bank deposits yesterday morning.

Police said the manager of the Dress Barn in Carle Place was sitting in her parked car at 9:16 a.m. preparing to make bank deposits when an unknown man approached her, flashed a black handgun and demanded she hand over the money.

The woman, 46, handed over a red bag that contained the bank deposits, police said.

The suspect fled and was seen running south on Glen Cove Road, and possibly got into a light-colored Nissan Pathfinder, police said.

No one was hurt in the robbery, police said.

The suspect was described as being between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot tall and with an average build.

He was wearing a black shirt with a white stripe, a black mask and generally dark clothes, police said.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

Man shot during robbery

by 3 who invaded home

One man was shot, suffering what police called "non-life-threatening injuries," during a home-invasion style robbery Sunday night in Shirley.

Suffolk County police said the shooting occurred at a home on Lexington Road at 9:17 p.m.

Three suspects, all armed, entered the house -- one shooting the victim in the leg.

The victim, 24, was transported to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Police would not say if the house was targeted and would only say the suspects fled with "unknown proceeds."

There were no arrests. The investigation is continuing.
