The Mega Millions jackpot has swelled to $449 million after no grand prize winners emerged in Friday’s drawing, according to the New York Lottery website.
The sum remains the third-largest grand prize in the history of the multistate lottery game. The next drawing is Tuesday.
On Friday, two players won $1 million each by matching five numbers — 20, 41, 42, 45 and 49 — but missing the Mega Ball of 14, according to the lottery website. Those tickets were sold in New York and Massachusetts.
Days earlier, the jackpot rose to $415 million after no tickets matched all six numbers in the June 28 drawing, pushing it past a $414 million grand prize in March 2014.
The game’s two largest jackpots are $656 million in March 2012 and $648 million in December 2013.
