The jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball game is pushing toward $400 million, lottery officials said Thursday.
With no winning ticket for Wednesday’s jackpot, Saturday’s grand prize climbed $29 million to $390 million, according to Powerball.com.
It’s the eighth-largest jackpot in the game’s history but well short of the record $1.586 billion in January.
Two tickets nationwide matched the five numbers — 6, 25, 35, 58 and 66 — in Wednesday’s drawing, but missed the Powerball of 5. One ticket was sold in Manhattan and the other in Rhode Island; each is worth $1 million.
The lump-sum cash payout for Saturday’s jackpot would be $270.5 million before taxes, lottery officials said.
