If you’re buying a ticket for Tuesday’s $454 million Mega Millions jackpot, you’ll stand a chance to win the third-largest grand prize in the history of the multistate lottery game.
The jackpot got a slight bump from $449 million Tuesday afternoon, several hours before the drawing.
Lottery officials said the lump-sum payout for the jackpot is $319 million, before taxes.
The game’s two largest jackpots are $656 million in March 2012 and $648 million in December 2013.
On Friday, when the jackpot was worth $415 million, two players won $1 million each by matching five numbers — 20, 41, 42, 45 and 49 — but missing the Mega Ball of 14, according to the New York state lottery website. Those tickets were sold in New York and Massachusetts.
Mega Millions is played in 44 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
