Nanny charged in theft from family, cops say

Neda Smiljanic, 24, of West 139th St. in Manhattan, was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny, first-degree identity theft and petit larceny. Police said Smiljanic, a nanny in Centre Island, stole $3,900, vitamins and a wallet from the family for which she worked. (Jan. 15, 2010)

A nanny has been arrested after she stole an ATM personal identification number and card, made $3,900 in fraudulent withdrawals, stole vitamins and a Louis Vuitton wallet from the Centre Island family she worked for, police said.

The thefts occurred from Dec. 30 to Jan. 2, police said.

Neda Smiljanic, 24, of West 139th St. in Manhattan, was arrested Thursday, charged with third-degree grand larceny, first-degree identity theft and petit larceny. She is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
