Alleged museum shooter's son says he's sorry

WASHINGTON - The son of James von Brunn says he wishes hisfather had died in the shooting at the U.S. Holocaust MemorialMuseum instead of a security guard.

Eighty-eight-year-old Von Brunn, a white supremacist, is chargedwith first-degree murder in Wednesday's shooting of Stephen T.Johns at the Washington, D.C., museum.

Erik von Brunn said in a statement to ABC News and TheWashington Post Sunday that he is "deeply sorry" for his father'sactions. He says, "My remorse is all I have to give."

The 32-year-old von Brunn told The Post that his father's viewswere always part of his life. He says his father never insistedthat his son share those views.

Erik von Brunn's mother says her son was not home Sunday andunavailable for further comment.
