WASHINGTON — Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Wednesday that President Donald Trump has “no intention” of releasing his tax returns to the public.
Mnuchin was asked about them at a White House news conference introducing the administration’s outline for an overhaul for the tax code.
“The president has no intention,” Mnuchin said. “The president has released plenty of information and, I think, has given more financial disclosure than anybody else.”
Trump and, more recently, Press Secretary Sean Spicer have said the president is under routine audit. Spicer has waffled on when or whether Trump will make his returns public, as has been tradition for presidents and presidential candidates.
