It sometimes seems like the fast-food and fast-casual restaurants of the world are one step ahead, anticipating our cravings before we even know we have them.
Here are some new offerings, some available for a limited time. (Please note that some items are only available at participating locations.)
Snow Crab Sandwich, McDonald's
McDonald's is testing a snow crab sandwich in four San Francisco Bay Area restaurants created with the help of California chef Ryan Scott, who has made appearances on "Top Chef" and "The Rachael Ray Show." The sandwich consists of crab meat mixed with celery and seasoned mayo on romaine lettuce and tomato on a sourdough bun.
Gilroy Garlic Fries, McDonald's
In May 2016 four McDonald's restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area served made-to-order Gilroy Garlic Fries using a blend of olive oil, Parmesan, parsley and garlic sourced from Gilroy, California. The garlic fries are now available in over 240 stores in the Bay Area.
Naked Chicken Chalupa, Taco Bell
Taco Bell released a new taco with a shell made entirely out of fried chicken stuffed with lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese and avocado ranch.
Sour Patch Watermelon Slurpee, 7-Eleven
7-Eleven is offering a new flavor of your favorite slushie. The Sour Patch Watermelon Slurpee was inspired by fan requests on social media, and is available now at participating stores.
Baconator Fries, Wendy's
Inspired by the chain's Baconator burger, Wendy's has released these fries topped with cheddar cheese sauce, Applewood Smoked Bacon and shredded cheddar.
Hot Dog Bites Pizza, Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut is set to debut a pizza with 28 tiny hot dogs baked into the crust on June 18. The bite-size hot dog ring can be pulled apart and dipped in mustard for easy eating.
Fan-favorite Frappuccinos, Starbucks
Starbucks is now offering six new Frappuccinos based on customers' favorite flavor combos. Options include Caramel Cocoa Cluster, Cupcake, Cinnamon Roll, Cotton Candy, Lemon Bar and Red Velvet Cake.
Breadstick sandwiches, Olive Garden
Olive Garden will use breadsticks to create chicken parmigiana and meatball sandwiches starting June 1. They will be available only on the restaurant's lunch menu.
Boston Market's slow-braised pulled pork
Boston Market now serves slow-braised pulled pork, topped with either sweet barbecue or garlic citrus sauce. It's available as a meal or sandwich.
Caramel macchiato, Dunkin' Donuts
Dunkin' Donuts is offering two exclusive drinks to participating Long Island locations: a caramel macchiato (pictured) and Americano latte. According to a press release from the company, "These beverages are part of a brand test on Long Island where residents have the option of ordering hot or iced depending on their preference."
Red Lobster's Create Your Own Seafood Trio
In April, Red Lobster launched its create your own seafood trio promotion. For $15.99, diners can select a combination of pasta, shrimp and grilled dishes, including lobster Alfredo, soy-ginger salmon and maple-glazed chicken.
Taco Bell is set to release the biscuit taco as part of its breakfast menu. The taco shell-shaped biscuit sandwich is available in four different options, including bacon, egg and cheese and crispy chicken with jalapeño honey.
S’mores Frappuccino, Starbucks
As warm-weather invites thoughts of iced beverages, Starbucks offers a s'mores Frappuccino. The blended drink includes milk and coffee topped with marshmallow whipped cream and crumbled graham crackers.
Veggie sliders, White Castle
White Castle is serving veggie sliders. The mini burgers are made by Dr. Praeger’s, a brand you’ll find in supermarket freezers nationwide. The patties, studded with peas, carrots, corn and spinach, are served on little buns and topped with a choice of sauce: ranch, honey mustard or sweet Thai.
Chicken artichoke panini, Starbucks
The chicken artichoke panini at Starbucks, served on flatbread, includes grilled chicken breast, a sundried tomato pesto and provolone cheese. Launched April 28.
This Burger King sandwich, which originally debuted in the '70s, is making its return. With ham, American cheese, lettuce and mayo on a toasted hoagie bun, it could be your new favorite lunch.
Korean barbecue pizza
Buy California Pizza Kitchen's new Korean barbecue pizza -- a winning entree from TNT's "On the Menu" -- and a dollar goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Pulled pork trio
Wendy's has added a trio of pulled pork items to its menu: a pulled pork sandwich, cheeseburger and fries.
The cross-cut pork ribs at Applebee's come with your choice of sauces: sweet Asian chile, smoky chipotle or classic barbecue.
Old-fashioned grilled cheese and turkey pesto panini
Two new sandwiches joined the lunchtime offerings at select Starbucks: the old-fashioned grilled cheese and turkey pesto panini.
Chili's mix-and-match fajitas let you pick your protein — pork, chicken (pictured), shrimp or steak — that gets joined by bell peppers and caramelized onions, plus your choice of flour or corn tortillas.
Spicy chicken Cool Ranch taco
Taco Bell has added another item to its Doritos taco shell line: the spicy chicken Cool Ranch taco.
Vanilla Dr. Pepper float freeze
Prepare for a brain freeze with Taco Bell's new vanilla Dr. Pepper float freeze.
It's a burrito, plus a quesadilla. Whatever the math, you'll find ground beef, rice, chipotle sauce, sour cream and cheese in this Taco Bell creation.
