WASHINGTON -- The White House says President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will attend events in New York City, Pennsylvania and Washington in September to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Spokesman Jay Carney said yesterday that Obama will pay tribute to those who died. He also will honor those who responded on Sept. 11, 2001, and who have served in harm's way in the decade since then.
Vice President Joe Biden will also attend events in Shanksville. He will help dedicate a memorial there to the passengers of Flight 93 on Sept. 10. That United Airlines flight crashed in a southwestern Pennsylvania field after passengers confronted their terrorist hijackers. -- AP
