Bootcamp by the Beach offers classes six days a week at Oakland Beach at Rye Town Park and at Crawford Park in Rye Brook. There are even stroller classes (for the parents, not the babies).
Lee Sandford, a Bootcamp by the Beach personal trainer, said that running in the sand or other natural terrain has been proven to burn up to 60 percent more calories than running on the road.
The Yoga Loft at Bedford Post Inn in Bedford offers indoor and outdoor yoga classes.
When the weather cooperates, instructors at Yoga Loft often bring their students outdoors. The classes take place amid the flowers and ferns of the Zen garden, which offers both shady and sunny spots.
Hudson River Recreation offers kayak and paddleboard rentals, tours and lessons at Echo Canoe and Kayak Launch on Croton River, Croton Point Park and Tarrytown Lakes.
Kayaking is a good way to strengthen the core and upper body while offering the opportunity to take in the scenery.
