Riots, looting break out after Freddie Gray's funeral in Baltimore

Rioters plunged part of Baltimore into chaos Monday, April 27, 2015, torching a pharmacy, setting police cars ablaze and throwing bricks at officers hours after thousands mourned the man who died from a severe spinal injury he suffered in police custody. See photos of the riots and aftermath.

Mosby announced the stiffest charge, second-degree depraved heart murder, against the driver of the police van. Other officers face charges of involuntary manslaughter, assault and illegal arrest.

Goodson is accused of second-degree depraved heart murder, involuntary manslaughter, two manslaughter by vehicle charges, second-degree assault and misconduct in office. Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby said Friday, May 1, 2015, that Goodson, who drove the van that transported Gray, repeatedly failed to seat belt him in the vehicle. Goodson has been on the force since 1999. The officers' union has said they are not responsible for Gray's death.

Lt. Brian Rice, 41, is the most senior

Lt. Brian Rice, 41, is the most senior of the six Baltimore police officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray. He faces one count of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of misconduct in office and one count of false imprisonment. Rice, who has been on the force since 1997, was promoted to lieutenant in 2011, police said.

Sgt. Alicia White, 30, is the second-highest officer

Sgt. Alicia White, 30, is the second-highest officer of the six charged in the death of Freddie Gray. She faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and misconduct in office. She joined the force in 2010 and became a sergeant in January 2015, according to police.
