Two firefighters were seriously injured, including one who suffered burns on about 40% of his body, after battling a two-alarm fire in Crown Heights on Monday, fire officials said.

The blaze, which broke out around 9 a.m. and engulfed the top floor of a brownstone, trapped one firefighter who had to be pulled out by a rescuer on a ladder.

Robert Weidman, of Rescue 2 in Brooklyn, suffered burns to his face and hands, and was in critical condition, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Three other firefighters suffered smoke inhalation or burns and were in stable condition, officials said.

The brownstone's occupants were not home at the time of the fire. The cause was under investigation.

The identities of all the injured rescuers could not be confirmed, but The Journal also named another seriously injured firefighter as Jim Gersbeck, also of Rescue 2 in Brooklyn.
