The city worker who used a “Star Wars” icon associated with the franchise’s villains to represent state government in an online directory will be found and disciplined, a smiling Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday.
“Of course, there’ll be a reprimand,” the mayor said, appearing amused. “It was a silly thing to do. . . . Someone needs to get out more often.”
The New York Post reported that the online version of the Green Book government directory had an Imperial Crest from the saga’s Galactic Empire next to a link for state agencies.
De Blasio and Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo have clashed frequently over the years. The symbol has been removed.
Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi responded Monday with a reference to the comedy “Spaceballs.”
“Whether it’s a half man, half dog or someone’s father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate, we’re sure this rebel will be found in ludicrous speed,” he said.
