Police arrested three people yesterday in the killing of a Brooklyn mother of 12 who died while trying to protect children on a sidewalk from gunfire raining down from a building rooftop.

Andrew Lopez, 18, confessed to being the shooter, police said. He reportedly told detectives that he was attempting to retaliate against someone in the neighborhood who had gotten into a fight with his younger brother.

“Andrew went to the rooftop and in some form, or intending some sort of retaliation, fired his weapon,” said NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly.

Police told The Daily News that Lopez is affiliated with the local street gang 8 Block.

His brother, Kristian Lopez, 17, and Jonathan Carrasquillo, 22, were also nabbed yesterday in connection with the Friday afternoon shooting that killed Zurana Horton, 33.

The trio, all of whom were listed as residing at 1800 Pitkin Ave. in Brownsville, where the shots were fired from, were charged with murder, assault and firearm possession. Kristian Lopez was also charged with criminal possession of another weapon — a baseball bat — in connection with the shooting that occurred outside PS 128.

Horton was shot in the chest as she scrambled to protect the children from the hail of bullets. Also injured were a 31-year-old mother, who was struck in the arm, and an 11-year-old girl, who suffered a graze wound to the cheek.
