Beauty junkie: New products we love (Clarins, Kiehl's, NARS)

Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette, $40; at department stores
It’s all about color this spring — from feminine pastels to bold pops. The shadows in Clarins’ palette satisfy both types of hue needs. Swept all over the lid dry, the springtime shades look soft and girly; applied wet (used as either shadow or liner), the va-va-voom factor goes up a notch. A bonus: The included black liner provides a chic way to add a little contrast to the eye. (Julie Gordon)

Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica Youth Regenerating Cream, $60; at Kiehl’s
This thick “youth-regenerating” cream is a treat for dry, dull winter skin. It’s formulated with a rare “Resurrection Flower” (the Haberlea rhodopensis) that can dry out fully and survive for 31 days in inclement conditions, only to be restored within a day or two with just a few drops of water. Obviously, it’s meant to have the same reaction on skin, and it absolutely delivers. It’s super-dense and thick but not greasy, and my skin literally seems to drink it right in. I apply it before bed and awake to glowing, hydrated skin. (Perrie Samotin)

NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils, $24 each; at department stores
For gals who like the convenience of a chubby lip pencil but the sheen of a gloss, NARS has a solution: the new Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils (same size and shape as NARS’ classic Velvet Matte Lip Pencils). The hydrating pencils — they’re enriched with Vitamin E — deliver seriously intense pigment to the lips, and the gorgeous colors last for hours. Trust me — you won’t be able to buy just one shade. Maybelline Volum’ Express One-by-One Washable Mascara, $6.49; at drugstores
I’m perpetually on the hunt for the perfect black mascara — one that lengthens and volumizes but doesn’t give me spider eyes or require an arsenal of products for removal. This surprising find from Maybelline just might be the closest thing to perfection I’ve found. The mascara enhances the volume and length of lashes, yet doesn’t leave clumps or residue behind. Mission accomplished! (JG)
