Behind the Curtain: Cybill Shepherd departs 'Best Man' early, more

With barely a week remaining in the Broadway run of "Gore Vidal's The Best Man," Cybill Shepherd has departed the show due to her mother's illness. Her understudy, Angelica Page, will go on in her place as Alice Russell.

'War Horse' to stop galloping in January
Just a few months ago, the producers of "War Horse" were contemplating moving the drama, which opened at Lincoln Center Theater's Vivian Beamount Theatre a year and a half ago, to another Broadway theater in the Times Square area. But seeing as the grosses have dipped in recent months, it will instead shutter for good on Jan. 6.

Palminteri to show his 'Human' side
Chazz Palminteri, who scored a Broadway hit a few years ago with his solo show "A Bronx Tale," is set to premiere his new play "Human," about an unexpected encounter between two very different men in Central Park, on Broadway next season.

Kazee rumored for 'Last Five Years'
Last Friday, Broadway broke the rumor that "a very recent Tony winner" will play the role of Jamie in the upcoming Off-Broadway revival of "The Last Five Years." With that in mind, it would appear they are referring to Steve Kazee, who just won a Tony for "Once" and clearly has the legit-rock voice to do justice to the part.
