The producers of “Motown,” which has turned into an undeniable hit despite mixed reviews, will hold an open casting call on Sept. 13 at the show’s Broadway theater to find performers for the Broadway and touring cast. Get more info at motownthemusical.com.

Slow tix sales to blame for this Beatles breakup
The Beatles tribute show “Let It Be” will close on Sept. 1 due to sagging ticket sales. It was originally expected to run at the St. James Theatre through the end of the year. The show’s producers are still hoping to take the show on tour. The new musical “Bullets Over Broadway,” based on the Woody Allen film, will open at the St. James in the spring.

B’way’s ‘Shrek’ to come out on DVD, Blu-ray
It turns out that “Shrek the Musical,” which played Broadway a few years ago and failed to make much of an impact, was filmed for commercial release before it closed in 2010. The video recording, which features original cast members Sutton Foster, Brian d’Arcy James and Christopher Sieber, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on Oct. 15.
