Facebook's founder has changed his status to "engaged" — or so says Bill Gates.
Mark Zuckerberg, the 27-year-old wunderkind who helped start the world's biggest social network, is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Priscilla Chan, the Microsoft founder said in an interview with British newspaper the Daily Mail.
The Microsoft founder — and friend of Zuck — let the news slip while talking about their respective philanthropy.
"I didn’t say to Mark, 'Give me all your money!' He was predisposed to do it and he came to me seeking advice," Gates told the paper. "His fiancée Priscilla thought about education and he gave money to Newark, New Jersey, and we did a co-grant so that some of our people who had some expertise in that field could help him out."
Gates added: "He deserves credit. I started meaningful philanthropy in my forties. He’s starting way earlier."
But despite Gates' claims, a spokeswoman for Facebook shot down the revelation, saying it was "an unintentional error."
Contrary to his portrayal as a lovesick loner in the 2010 movie "The Social Network," Zuckerberg has reportedly been dating Chan, who graduated from Harvard in 2007, since their early college years at Harvard.
