Police charged a Brooklyn man suspected of a grisly triple homicide with three counts of murder on Saturday.
Jermaine Ruiz, 24, allegedly stabbed his girlfriend, 22, and two of her children dozens of times after a fight on Wednesday at the couple's apartment in East Flatbush, police said.
The slain children - both girls, ages 2 and 5 - were not related to Ruiz, police said.
The girlfriend was the mother of Ruiz's infant twins, who the alleged killer took unharmed to a relative's home on the day of the slayings, police said.
Police on Friday arrested Ruiz at the apartment on Rogers Avenue after receiving a report of a possible homicide.
Officers found the woman's body partially wrapped in plastic. The girls' bodies were rolled up in a rug that was covered in plastic, apparently in an attempt to mask the killings, police said.
Ruiz made statements implicating himself in the slayings, police said.
Police have not released the girlfriend's name because they have been unable to locate her mother, who lives in the Dominican Republic.
