A Brooklyn man was busted Thursday for the vicious sex assault on an elderly woman on the Upper East Side, police said.
Jeffrey Ritter, 32, of East New York, was arrested late Wednesday night after police received tips about his identity, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told reporters.
Police said Ritter, who reportedly works as a tattoo artist, was caught on surveillance cameras early Monday morning putting the 85-year-old woman in a headlock and dragging her down the street. He then forced her to perform oral sex on him in a stairwell and stole her ring before he fled, police said.
Kelly said Ritter made a written statement and video confession implicating himself in the crime.
Ritter has a long criminal history, Kelly added, having been arrested at least 11 times in several states.
After cursing at reporters outside the NYPD’s Special Victim’s Unit headquarters Thursday morning, Ritter shouted, “I didn’t do it! I didn’t do it!”
Ritter was expected to be arraigned Thursday evening. His attorney’s name was not immediately available.
He is charged with a criminal sexual act, robbery and sexual abuse.
