The city's school bus strike continued for the second day Thursday as the union and city continued to fight over the future of bus drivers' contracts.

Parents of more than 150,000 had to either use student MetroCards or drive their kids to school while Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Local 1181 of the Amalgamated Transit Union try to settle the issue of the city's bids for 1,000 school bus contracts.

The bids, which haven't been done since 1979, would cut down on the $1.1 billion annual costs for school bus, Bloomberg said.
