Thursday night, former Mayor David Dinkins — who holds the distinction of being the Big Apple’s first and only African-American mayor — will discuss his latest book, “A Mayor’s Life: Governing New York’s Gorgeous Mosaic,” in which he discusses his life, political career and rise to the city’s top job. Transit Museum’s 20th Annual Bus Festival
Take a step back into old-timey New York with the Transit Museum’s 20th Annual Bus Festival this Sunday — part of the Atlantic Antic street festival — where you can board vintage buses and chat with bus drivers and transit historians to get a glimpse of the storied days of NYC public transportation. More than a dozen buses and trucks will be parked on Boerum Place between State Street and Atlantic Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn. If you’re itching to also check out vintage subway cars, dole out $1 at the Transit Museum, which is offering discounted admission until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
