Smartphone photo class
Constantly snapping away on your smartphone? Well, while YOU may think you're the next Ansel Adams or Annie Leibovitz, chances are you could use some tips on how to make those phone shots look just like the pros. The JCC in Manhattan is offering a FREE smartphone photography class this Sunday that'll teach you when and how to push the little camera icon to get the best shot, and will also suggest a variety of FREE and inexpensive apps and software that can help improve your photos. (Sunday, 11 a.m., FREE, JCC in Manhattan, 334 Amsterdam Ave., jccmanhattan.org, 646-505-5708, call to register)

Panel Discussion

The Funny Side of Crime
There's usually nothing funny about crime - unless you're reading a work penned by any member of this group from the New York chapter of the Mystery Writers of America, who convene to discuss the lighter side of illegality. The panelists include Nancy Martin, Tom Straw and Lois Winston. (Thursday, 6:30-8:30 p.m., FREE, Mid-Manhattan Library, 455 Fifth Ave., 212-340-0863, nypl.org)

Games

Freeze Tag on Wall Street
Channel your inner child and join in this game of freeze tag on Wall Street, returning for the sixth year in a row and brought to you by Levy's Unique New York. Not sure how to play? Don't worry; there'll be people around to help you remember what it was like to be a kid again. (Saturday, noon-3 p.m., FREE, corner of Wall and Broad sts., levysuniqueny.com/events)
