Tribeca Film Festival Outdoor Drive-In Series
The Tribeca Film Festival kicked off Wednesday and your chance to catch a flick for FREE starts Thursday night with the festival’s Outdoor Drive-In Series. Head down to Brookfield Place at the World Financial Center this weekend for evenings filled with games and activities inspired by the films being screened, including movie trivia contests, costume contests and giveaways. Then sit back, relax and enjoy the show: Hitchcock’s “The Birds” will screen Thursday night, Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice” hits the screen Friday and “Lil Bub & Friendz,” a new film featuring the made-famous-online cat Lil Bub, will screen Saturday. (Thursday-Sat., doors at 6 p.m., screening at 8:15 p.m., FREE, Brookfield Place, World Financial Center Plaza, 220 Vesey St., tribecafilm.com)

Volunteering

Sixth annual ‘One Thing That’s Green’ program
Feel like giving back this weekend? Here’s your chance. JetBlue and the New York Restoration Project are partnering together for the sixth annual “One Thing That’s Green” day this Saturday. Sign up online and then head down to Highland Park to be part of the hundreds of volunteers who will plant more than 2,400 trees, pick up trash and complete beautification projects. (Saturday, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., FREE, Highland Park, advance registration required at jetblue.com/trees, milliontreesnyc.org)

Comics

Brain Frame Performative Comix Reading Series
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s … Brain Frame! The Performative Comix Reading Series makes its Brooklyn debut this weekend. Eight artists from around the country will present as part of the comics variety show, which gives comics and zine artists a place to expand their work and make it pop off the page through performance and readings that often include slideshows, costumes, props, soundtracks, music, lectures and more. (Sunday, 7 p.m., FREE, Back Room at Public Assembly, 70 North Sixth St., Williamsburg, brainframe.tumblr.com, facebook.com/ brainframe)
