WASHINGTON - A Senate Judiciary Committee vote on Elena Kagan's Supreme Court nomination Tuesday was postponed a week at the request of Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the committee's top Republican.

Sessions said Republicans need more time to review her written testimony and qualifications, which he questioned. Any committee member can ask for a delay of a vote.

With a majority on the committee, Democrats plan to approve her nomination and send it to the full Senate for a vote. The Senate is expected to confirm her as the fourth woman to serve on the Supreme Court.
