Port Authority police officers were called to manage a large crowd at Kennedy Airport's Delta Air Lines terminal Tuesday morning, a Port Authority spokesman said.
Spokesman Steve Coleman said officers were called "to maintain order" at the terminal. Port Authority customer service workers were also dispatched to help Delta Airline workers, he said.
Delta Air Lines officials couldn't be reached for comment, but a source said that the airline overbooked a flight to Haiti. The overbooking, combined with travelers still trying to leave New York after the weekend snowstorm, led to a larger-than-normal crowd.
"They've got a lot of people at the terminal, and they're not happy," the source said.
The weekend snowstorm disrupted airline travel at Kennedy and other New York area airports, forcing airlines to cancel flights and scramble to book passengers on flights Monday and Tuesday
