NYPD officers Kenneth Moreno and Franklin Mata "disgraced their profession" when one of them raped an intoxicated woman in her East Village apartment, prosecutor Coleen Balbert told Manhattan jurors yesterday.
"They were supposed to be New York's Finest," Balbert said during closing arguments. "But on Dec. 7, 2008, they were New York's worst."
Moreno, 43, is accused of having sex with the 29-year-old GAP exec while Mata acted as a lookout. The officers said they were consoling her and she wasn't raped. The jury is set to deliberate today. The cops face 25 years in prison if convicted.
