Derek Jeter wants you to know his broken left ankle will be ready to go for the start of the season.

And he's not fat.

The Yankee captain appeared on "The Michael Kay Show" Monday on ESPN Radio to address his health in the wake of a season-ending injury and in the aftermath of a recent New York Post back page purporting to show an overweight Jeter with the headline "Derek Eater."

"People were telling me I looked like I lost a lot of weight, and two days later I was on the front page of the New York Post," Jeter said. "I'm not battling with the New York Post. It's a no-win situation. I guess they do what they do, they had fun with it. But I had a lot of messages from a lot of different people asking me what I've been doing."
