The Facebook vs. Twitter war intensified Thursday, as Facebook announced that users of its Instagram app can now record and share 15-second videos, a direct response to Twitter’s Vine app that lets users share six-second videos.

Instagram, which has more than 130 million users, was bought by Facebook last year for $1 billion – which some speculate was a move to keep it out of Twitter’s hands – and yesterday’s announcement only stoked competition, experts said.
