Family clashes at funeral for kids drowned in Hudson River tragedy

The heart-wrenching funeral Monday for the three young children killed when their suicidal mom drove her minivan into the Hudson River with them inside was marred by family strife as relatives clashed.

Dozens showed up at the upstate funeral home in Spring Valley to say goodbye to the Pierre children — Landen, 5, Lance, 2 and Lainaina, 11 months — each of whom lay in white caskets and were taken to Congers for burial.

However, many of the relatives of the children’s mother, 25-year-old Lashanda Armstrong, were upset that they were forced to present identification to enter the packed funeral home.

A cousin of Armstrong's, Gwendolen Green, 48, also claimed that her teen-age son was stopped from attending.

"This is wrong," Green stormed out of the service saying, according to the Daily News. "Enough is enough."

Armstrong, who drove her children into the river near their Newburgh home on April 12, was buried last week after the children’s father, Jean Pierre, 26, insisted on separate funerals.

A fourth child in the car, Lashaun Armstrong, 10 — who has a different father and is the sole survivor of the tragedy, managing to escape the sinking vehicle through a car window — reportedly did not attend yesterday’s funeral.
