The ultimate “behind the seams” experience, Stitched was created by Joe Zee, creative director of Elle magazine, and Rob Younkers, fashion designer and adjunct associate professor at Parsons, the New School for Design.

The fashion camp for kids encourages adolescents’ love of fashion, with a goal of nurturing creativity and passion for it. This summer at Guild Hall in East Hampton, your children can learn to create anything from a great custom tee to their own fabric and create a design that is unique.

Under the guidance of instructors and industry insiders, participants will be guided through the entire design process from “beginning to hemmed.” Burgeoning designers will develop a concept, create inspiration boards, design fabric and color stories, and illustrate a six-look collection for spring/summer 2014. The young designers will then turn their ideas into runway- ready garments.

The two-week camp runs Aug. 5-16 for $1,850, and the one-week camp, Aug. 12-16, is $925.

What is the genesis of Stitched?
It’s an outlet for kids that can do illustration pattern making, or those who just want to make their own clothes and/or start to sell their designs. I want children to learn the tools to be creative.

Rob: I worked with Tim Gunn at Parsons and I wanted to bring the tools for fashion to children, the new trailblazers. ... And, it’s a technical choice for these children. I want them to be able to create and dream.

What do you expect from the kids?
All they need to do is bring a love of fashion, and we will provide them with an experience they won’t get anywhere else. I’d like them to learn skills and able to make things on their own. I expect them to leave with a skill set. I expect for myself to ignite passion with kids.

Can the parents view the work?
It’s an open studio, so people can come and view the pieces that the kids are making.

What are your favorite restaurants?
Saxon and Parole, Izakaya and Bar Pitti.

Where do you shop?
Barneys all the way.

What sneakers do you wear?
Rob: Lanvin and YSL.

Where do you work out?
Rob: SoulCycle.

What’s your hobby?
We love cooking. Rob makes the best icebox cake. We play “Chopped” at home some nights. We pull ingredients off the shelf and make something. ... Cooking is very therapeutic.

Where do you get your supplies?
Sur La Table or the Brooklyn Kitchen
