What better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than by handing the DJ decks over to a loyal subject of the queen?

"I'm coming over to help you guys celebrate kicking us Brits out of the country," said Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, the dance music superstar and headliner for day two of the "Dance.Here.Now." festival on Govenors Island.

"The irony will always be there," he added.

Best known for hit songs such as "The Rockafeller Skank," "Praise You" and "Weapon of Choice," Slim will bring his full show - including screens, lasers and all sorts of effects - to the celebration.

"We build it like a rock show," he said. "And I can change the set every night, but the visuals still come up on the screen. It's quite a visually impressive show."

amNew York tracked down Fatboy Slim in advance of his Governors Island appearance to find out his "go-to" tracks to get a crowd going:

Martin Solveig
"I've done kind of a re-edit of it. It's got that hands-in-the-air euphoric hook, but also that dirty house going on underneath."

'The Rockafeller Skank' and 'Right Here Right Now'
Fatboy Slim
"If you don't play some of your own records, then you seem a bit moody. But if you spin just your own stuff all night, you seem a bit up your own ass."

'Show Me Love'
Robin S.
"That bass line, when that kicks in, it always gets a reaction."

'Smack My Bitch Up'
"One of the things about dance music in general is that it's not scared to revisit [hits]. And with everyone using [DJ software], now you can always make your own mashups with these."

If you go: Fatboy Slim headlines day two (Saturday) of the "Dance.Here.Now." festival on Governors Island. The festival runs Friday though Monday from 4 p.m. to midnight each day. $41-$100 for the day; $96-$250 for a three-day pass.
