Just two days before the Jets are scheduled to report to training camp, the team signed kicker Billy Cundiff Tuesday. To make room for Cundiff on the 90-man roster, the Jets have released kicker Brett Maher.
The Jets are the 12th NFL team to sign Cundiff to a contract.
Cundiff, who is infamous for missing a last second 32-yard field goal in the 2011 AFC Championship Game for the Ravens, made 7 of 12 field goal attempts for the Redskins last season before being cut after Week 5.
Cundiff will compete for placekicking duties with Nick Folk. Folk converted 21 of 27 field goal attempts last season, including a long of 54-yards.
