Gauging 2012 prospect, Rudy Giuliani meets with GOP heavyweights

Gauging his 2012 presidential prospects, former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani picked the brains of two top Republican governors Wednesday who themselves have been mentioned as potential contenders for the GOP nomination, according to published reports.

Giuliani, 67, met with Texas Gov. Rick Perry over breakfast in Manhattan, and later had lunch with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Both meetings reportedly came at Giuliani's request.

Christie and Perry both have been seen as possible 2012 candidates, though Christie, 48, has adamantly denied he wants to run. Perry, 61, has previously said he won't run, but earlier this week he told Fox News that he's "giving it the appropriate thought."

Giuliani made an unsuccessful run for the GOP nomination in 2008.
