Everyone has an icon they channel during the summer months. Whether you are traveling to and from work or to and from the airport en route to another exotic destination, summer is the time to be as aspirational as you can be.
My icon is Jackie Onassis when she was island hopping with Mr. Valentino and her sister in Capri. In the spirit of Capri, Italian sandals, Fiats and a colorful Italian aesthetic, here’s what I love for the season:
-- Mossimo, which is sold at Target, has the cutest summer dresses for less than $50. They are colorful, fashionable and easy to take to the beach or wear out at night to an outdoor spot, such as the Frying Pan right here in NYC.
-- Uniqlo’s floral dresses are simple and easy to throw on when you are up on a Saturday morning buying from the farmers market. To complement, short red nails are a must.
-- Persol’s Tierra Siena sunglasses are the chicest vintage-inspired shades out there. The glasses exude that St. Tropez/ Capri vacation destination lifestyle.
-- If I am the Jackie Onassis I’m trying to be, silver sandals are a definite must. I love those by J.Crew, Prada and Martin Margiela.
-- For jewelry this summer, I’m gold obsessed. Alexis Bittar’s geometric earrings are a fun alternative to a hoop, but if you want a lower-end alternative, definitely scour the street vendors for big and gold. It’s hot with a ponytail or with a little eyeliner and wavy beach curls.
-- My evening must-have dresses are Dolce & Gabbana with bold floral prints. These sexy and effortless styles are perfect for drinks by the pool at the Jimmy at the James Hotel in SoHo. Stilettos not included.
