Come Friday, Marvel Comics likely will have another blockbuster superhero hit on its hands with the big-screen adaptation of “Thor.”
And there’s no shortage of toys, games, books and all sorts of other goodies to get you in the Norse mood.
amNewYork takes a look at some of our favorite God of Thunder paraphernalia.
‘Thor: The Mighty Avenger Vols. 1 & 2’
While the Marvel Comics version of Thor was created all the way back in 1962, you don’t need to know any of his back-story to fall in love with these two whimsical, action-packed graphic novels from writer Roger Langridge and artist Chris Samnee. ($14.99 each)
Thor Lightning Hammer
Here’s the facts: You can’t be Thor without his mighty hammer, Mjolnir. The Lightning Hammer is a great representation of the weapon, with thunder sounds, lights and a firing missile. It’s soft enough to (gently) hit things with (carefully, people!) and, thankfully, it doesn’t make actual lightning. ($19.99)
‘Thor: God of Thunder’
Take control of Thor as he battles Frost Giants and other evils to protect his homeland of Asgard. Get ready to pummel things with a hammer. (PS3, Xbox360, $59.99; Wii, $$49.99; 3DS, $34.99)
‘Thor: Tales of Asgard’
A rambunctious young Thor — in his pre-hammer days — sets out on an adventure with his pals, the Warriors Three, and his brother Loki. Available May 17. (DVD, $19.98; Blu-ray/DVD combo, $29.99)
There will be dozens of action figures available, ranging from Thor and his fellow Norse gods to their foes, the Frost Giants. You’re going to want a good Thor figure, so we recommend Battle Hammer Thor, though they’re all pretty sweet. ($7.99 each)
