Abe Lincoln: president, slave liberator ... vampire hunter?

Oh yes.

A trailer for the film "Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" dropped Monday, teasing an epic history-horror mash-up featuring Benjamin Walker as an ax-wielding Honest Abe with almost superhuman strength seeking revenge on the vamps for the murders of his grandfather and mother.

Staying sorta-kinda true to history, one of the more notable events during Lincoln's presidency -- the Civil War -- plays a major role in the film. The catch is the Civil War wasn't actually a war between fellow Americans, but an act of averting a takeover by the bloodsuckers.

Based on the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" promises to be exactly what director Timur Bekmambetov ("Wanted") is noted for: outrageous fight scenes atop uncontrollable trains and an angry protagonist seeking revenge no matter the cost.

The film in all its apocalyptic glory hits theaters June 22.
